Why Your Boat Looks Faded
Oxidation is the breakdown of your gelcoat's outer layer from UV radiation and oxygen. In Florida's climate, boats oxidize faster than almost anywhere in the country. Left untreated, it penetrates deeper — eventually requiring full respray instead of restoration.
Signs of Oxidation
- Dull, chalky, or hazy hull appearance
- Faded color compared to when new
- White powdery residue when you rub the surface
- Wax no longer produces a shine
- Rough texture rather than smooth gloss
Our Process
- Decontamination wash and surface preparation
- Surface correction using the appropriate method for each vessel — dry sanding, wet sanding, compounding, polishing, or a combination depending on the severity and gelcoat condition
- SiO2 polymer sealant (3–6 month protection) or ceramic coating (2+ year protection) to seal and protect the restored surface
